InterNations Expat City Ranking 2021

When you are considering a foreign move, you can’t get enough information. So I was excited to come across InterNations’ 2021 Expat City Ranking. The survey comes as as a result of surveys completed by more than 12,000 expats around the world, including respondents from 174 different nationalities and living in 186 different countries or territories.

So, I wanted to know, what did this group think of life in The Netherlands? Of the 57 cities in the survey, The Hague ranked 19th overall. Unfortunately the only city in the U.S. that had enough surveys to make the list was New York, which doesn’t offer much of a comparison to our hometown of Houston. But it does rank above both Vancouver (25th) and Toronto (27th), which I think is pretty impressive.

What do people like about living in The Hague? It seems people are generally happy (79%), have good work/life balance, and the city boasts a great public transportation system. The downside according to respondents? The weather. More on that later.

So I am feeling good after reading this report. And I can handle the weather right? After all I did live in Vancouver of four years, where one winter it rained for 40 days straight.
